MY MISSION: To Make Use of My Strengths and Skills to Craft Word Products Tailored to Meet My Clients’ Highest Expectations.

I have always been an avid reader fascinated by the imagery that words, skillfully strung together, can evoke. I learnt how to read around the tender age of four or five and subsequently embraced reading with such passion that words became my friend.

Sandra ME Wint PhD

Reading fed my innate curiosity and love of learning, took me to foreign lands with the most vivid landscapes I had yet to explore and ignited my imagination. I may not be the best storyteller but I recognize great ones and am moved by the power of words. They have provided perspectives I would have otherwise missed, shaped my worldview and cemented values that have formed and enriched the foundation on which I have built my life.

My academic and professional experience, gained in Jamaica, USA and the UK, is multidisciplinary, spanning natural sciences – marine zoology, aquaculture; science and technology policy; and management. Out of the necessity to write articles, proposals, policies, presentations, speeches and reports destined for use in different fora — even my PhD thesis  — a specialized skill for proofreading and copy editing was born. My work in the public and private sectors nurtured that skill and, perhaps because of my love of the written word, I became adept  at it and am well regarded by my peers and colleagues.

Today, I have cemented this experience with Level 4 diploma accreditation from the College of Media and Publishing (UK). My work now encompasses newsletters, editing publications and websites, editing anthologies of poetry, writing technical papers and proofreading a range of documents, manuals and manuscripts.

I find energy, contentment and a sense of achievement from indulging in my lifelong hobbies: plants – orchid growing in particular; sewing and embroidery – creating beauty one stitch at a time; music –  according to mood, from energetic dance music to the calm and introspective; walking to indulge in the sights, smells, views and the variety of lifeforms. Those closest to me say my hobbies are a reflection of my nurturing nature – no orchid is dead until its beyond reviving; sewing requires time, patience and attention to detail; reading builds a reservoir of words, ideas and information that all contribute to using words elegantly. Love of music and nature combine to reinforce the rhythm that words evoke, when combined well, and a joy for life. More importantly, these are the attributes I bring to my work, which ultimately is to facilitate you realising your dream.

Moving into a new phase of life can be daunting. However, I recognize that a job, a relationship, or particular season in life is often meant to be a bridge. Everything has contributed to where I am today, and today will shape where I end up tomorrow. My goal now is to expand my repertoire of skills and so provide an expanded range of word related services. I am especially looking forward to building mutually beneficial, long-term working relationships with my clients.

As you peruse my website, I hope you will be assured that your works are in safe hands, hands guided by integrity and purpose to make use of my strengths and skills to craft word products tailored to meet my clients’ highest expectations.

It’s none of their business that you have to learn to write.
Let them think you were born that way.
